Why Consensus21

Less like a school.
More like a protocol.

Like a public blockchain: no central authority, rules anyone can read, and changes made by consensus of the people who use it.

Student voice

No principal, no head office. Learners are members with a real vote: they help elect the Council of mentors, and anyone can propose a change through a School Improvement Proposal (SIP).

Capital, not debt

Tuition goes into a community treasury on a public blockchain, secured by shared keys. 10% of every fee is locked for that learner and unlocks at 18, alongside a verifiable portfolio of finished projects.

A community that builds ideas out

Everyone is both a learner and a mentor. By the time a learner's fund opens, their project has had years of input from older learners, mentors and parents. The first customers are already in the room.

Your learning journey

It starts with git init

Every learner's documentation and self-reporting lives in Git. Copy the template, make it yours, and your portfolio grows one commit at a time.

    Claim your profile

    Create a GitHub account and a repository with exactly the same name as your username. Its README becomes the front page of your profile.

  2. 02

    Copy the C21 template

    Drop in the starter files: c21.json, a profile README, and folders for projects, reflections, explorer logs and SIPs.

  3. 03

    Plan your week

    Import the default week into your calendar, then edit the week block in c21.json as your timetable becomes your own.

  4. 04

    Log every Explorers Day Out

    Where you went, who you met, what it cost and what you'd do with it. One markdown file per trip in explorers/.

  5. 05

    Reflect on Fridays

    Commit a reflection each week. Over years this becomes the verifiable record that replaces a report card.

  6. 06

    Propose a SIP

    Think something about the school should change? Write a School Improvement Proposal in sips/ and bring it to Thursday's SIP Discussion.

  7. 07

    Ship it at 18

    Your locked fund opens alongside years of finished projects, and a community ready to help you build your idea into a business.
